Name: Sypha Belnades Door: Sypha was a Dominant when I previously apped her. Link to old TDM Canon: Castlevania Canon Point: Second Season, Episode 7 Age: 20 Appearance: Here History: Here Personality: Note - Sypha will not be re-apped with previous memories of her time in Duplicity. NEGATIVE - COCKSURE: Perhaps Sypha's biggest personality flaw is that she's arrogantly confident. She doesn't take no for an answer and despite attempts by others to change her mind she stubbornly holds onto her beliefs and opinions. She's always right, as far as she's concerned, until she's presented with irrefutable evidence that no, she might not be right after all. This haughty part of her definitely is a product of her status within her tribe (the granddaughter of the elder) along with her affinity for magic and languages. She's quite literally a know-it-all and looks down on others who might not know as much as she does, if she perceives them to be stupid. She's so confident in her abilities that despite transporting Dracula's castle on top of the structurally unsound Belmont Hold she claps to herself, as if patting herself on the back for a job well done. She even gets Trevor to reaffirm how great she is for accomplishing such a feat. Naturally he tells her she's the best, and that's exactly the kind of thing she wants to hear. She knows she's awesome (even when she isn't or is being a rude ass) and you should think she is too. - BRAVE: There's no denying Sypha's bravery, but she takes it sometimes to the extreme. Her competence in her abilities and magic makes her very independent as an individual, which means she's not good at relying on others and instead will rush into a fray without thinking. She rarely shows any fear, facing off the hoards of the night and angry mobs of people without ever standing down; whether the threat is human or vampiric in nature she doesn't cower in the face of any danger. A prime example of this is the fact she went into the catacombs all by herself to look for the legendary sleeping warrior her people had been told of. Even after Trevor saves her from having been turned to stone by a cyclops she doesn't seem to flinch at the corpses in the room or even the corpse of the cyclops. A bit of fear might do her some good, if only when it comes to self preservation. - JUDGMENTAL: Sypha is, without a doubt, incredibly judgmental. First impressions with Sypha matter and they matter a lot. Her first impression of Trevor after meeting him sullies her opinion of him and she spends the first part of the series seeing him as nothing more than a washed up drunk that gets lucky at killing monsters. If she doesn't like you and god forbid thinks you're rude, good luck at changing her mind. This nature of hers extends into her beliefs and what she thinks is right or wrong. She is definitely the type of person to judge and act first, asking questions later. While it serves her well with regards to survival it makes her come across as very rude, even if she thinks you're the one being offensive. She is definitely the kind of person who's respect isn't just given, it's earned, which is something Trevor Belmont does over the course of the series. POSITIVE + JUST: Sypha is altruistic and believes in the greater good to a fault. Despite being what she is (a self proclaimed enemy of the church and God), things can be very black and white for her, and while that may not be good in certain situations, Sypha will always do what's right (or at least what she believes to be right.) An example of this would be when Trevor tells her and her people to leave the city they're occupying or else they themselves will end up being targeted by the Church and killed as a scapegoat. Sypha more or less tells Trevor to shut up and that they, as Speakers, can and will never abandon people in need. This is a belief Sypha takes to heart, that good will always triumph over evil, and she is an agent who will fight for those who cannot save themselves, even if it puts her own life at risk. Powers and Abilities: Sypha is a Speaker Magician, which essentially means two things: she's a language nerd and essentially her canon's equivalent of the Avatar. As a Speaker Sypha's a polyglot. Her knowledge of various languages both ancient and contemporary is extensive and vast. She's able to analyze language and pick out common roots and structures that might be present in most languages. In addition to this she has an incredible auditory memory, as her people are nomads and make it their task to preserve history and tales via oral tradition. Speakers also offer aid and assistance to those in need, and while her knowledge of medicine and the natural world is a bit Medieval (literally), she does her best to work with what she's got to help others. As a Magician Sypha's magic is primarily elemental based and works via the power of her intent. She's shown to be able to control fire, ice, electricity and also air in various ways. She's also capable of using incantations, as seen when she dispels the magical door blocking the path to the Belmont hold. Her knowledge of magic is quite hefty, as she's able to create or finish already half written spells if need be. For example, she completes a spell that the Belmont family had been trying to create to capture Dracula's castle. Sypha's magic will, of course, be limited as to not be game or setting breaking (no teleporting entire homes to the beach for example). Anything that might cause significant damage will be avoided unless cleared with the mods beforehand. Inventory: Just the robes she wears. Samples: TDM Starters Thread |
